There are often more than one Cherokee word associated with a particular English word. Part of this is due to the fact that the data for this dictionary is drawn from a wide number of sources and has not been correlated by anyone expert in the language. The words listed above are the first english word associated with the Cherokee word, that is to say, they appear in the order that they were entered into the dictionary. An example would be hello. The first entry for hello is o-si-yo, though there are three others. In the top ten list, only o-si-yo appears as it was the first of the four to be entered into the system. To see all of the other translations as they appear in Cherokee, just drag the English word into the translate box and translate it. It is our hope that over time, the confusion will be reduced as the database develops.
