Cherokee Nation

"They took the whole Cherokee Nation
Put us on this reservation
Took away our ways of life

The tomahawk and the bow and knife
Took away our native tongue
And taught their English to our young
And all the beads we made by hand
Are nowadays made in Japan

Cherokee people, Cherokee tribe
So proud to live, so proud to die

They took the whole Indian Nation
Locked us on this reservation
Though I wear a shirt and tie
I'm still part red man deep inside

Cherokee people, Cherokee tribe
So proud to live, so proud to die

But maybe someday when they've learned
Cherokee Nation will return
Will return...
Will return...
Will return...
Will return."

John D. Loudermilk

Since 1996, when this site was born, until recently, this site has been completely free to everyone. Recent events have caused a number of disruptions to the service. As a result, I decided to shutdown the service. I had hoped that the Cherokee Nation would be interested in taking it over but it seems not to be the case.

After a lot of soul searching and lots of emails imploring me to bring it back, I am returning the site to active status. Unfortunatly, it is no longer a free service. A number of users suggested that I make it a subscription based service to help defray the cost of keeping this site going and eventually, I agreed.

So, to use this website, you must be a subscriber. You can still poke around the site but translations can only be performed by subscribers.

Subscriptions run for one year and are billed at the rate of $3.00 (USD) per month and are handled by Google. As such, you need to have a Google account in order to become a subscriber.

After logging into Google, you will have an opportunity to become a member of this site.

Subscriptions can be canceled at any time through your Google Checkout page.

Oh and there is a new feature that allows you to hear the cherokee words using Google's text to speach engine.
